Progressive Democratic Party Chairman Directs Cadre to Support Nepali Congress in Gorkha Elections

Kathmandu. Narayan Khatri, Chairman of the Progressive Democratic Party (PrLoPa) Gorkha, has issued a circular directing party members to stand by the party's decision. PrLoPa, which withdrew its candidacy in both constituencies of Gorkha, had decided to support the Nepali Congress candidate.

Following the party's decision being publicized in various media outlets, Khatri confirmed that the decision to support the Nepali Congress in both constituencies is true. On Sunday, he made the circular public via the social media platform Facebook, urging the entire party structure to implement the decision without hesitation.

“At this time, some friends are staging dramas where they should be cooperating positively with the continuous efforts we have made. I instruct the concerned friends not to engage in such antics. I urge the entire party structure and voters to stand firm on the decision we have made without hesitation and to engage in election campaigning,” he wrote.

Khatri asserted that because PrLoPa's candidacy was vacant in Gorkha due to an unfortunate circumstance, the party informed all stakeholders in the district after intensive discussions, and since the party had no candidate, the decision was made to support the Nepali Congress this time.  

“In the context of the upcoming House of Representatives election, as our direct candidacy was unfortunately vacant in Gorkha district, after intensive discussions with all friends in the district for the tenth time and taking permission, intensive discussions were held with various parties in the district at various stages. The matters discussed openly with those parties were communicated to the party structure,” the circular stated, “Since there is no candidate from our party, the decision to openly declare not to contest but to vote for the Nepali Congress in the direct election this time is true.”
