South Indian Superstar Thalapathy Vijay's 25-Year Marriage Faces Divorce Amid Allegations

Hyderabad. The 25-year marriage of South Indian film superstar and Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party president, Thalapathy Vijay, is in jeopardy. Vijay's wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, has filed for divorce at the Chengalpattu Family Court in Chennai.

In the petition filed in court, Sangeetha has leveled serious allegations against Vijay. According to an India Today report, she claimed that her marital life was ruined due to Vijay's illicit relationships with other women and officials.

Stating that she could no longer tolerate Vijay's betrayal and live with him, she mentioned that their relationship, which was always seen together at public events, reaching the court was unexpected for many. The court has registered this as a case under process and stated that it will proceed after hearing both sides.

The love story of Vijay and Sangeetha was no less than a movie script. In the late 1990s, Sangeetha, who lived in the UK, was a huge fan of Vijay. She traveled to Chennai specifically to meet Vijay and went to the shooting set.

Vijay was impressed by Sangeetha's simplicity during their first meeting. Their friendship, which started slowly, turned into love, and with the consent of both families, they married on August 25, 1999. They have two children, son Jason Sanjay and daughter Divya Sasha.

Not only his cinema and personal life, but Vijay's political career and his latest film are also currently surrounded by controversy and uncertainty. After a 33-year film journey, Vijay had announced on January 30, 2026, that he would retire from acting to fully dedicate himself to politics.
