One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Vehicle Collision Near Birtamod, Jhapa

Jhapa. One person died and one person was seriously injured in a vehicle accident on the inner road section near Kanchenjunga School in Birtamod Municipality-4 last night.

The accident occurred when a car with registration number Bagmati Province 01-025 Ch 6050, traveling from Birtamod towards Saina Bazar, collided head-on with a motorcycle with registration number Province 1-01-016 Pa 3959 coming from the opposite direction.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, Jhapa, the motorcycle rider, 25-year-old Bishal Poudel, a resident of Mechinagar Municipality-13 Charali, was seriously injured in the accident. Poudel was rushed to B&C Hospital in Birtamod for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.

According to him, 25-year-old Chandrakishor Chapagain, a resident of Kankai Municipality-6, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, is undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Police stated that his condition is serious. DSP Khadka informed that the car driver, 25-year-old Chirag Sinha, a resident of Birtamod Municipality-6, has been taken into police custody and further investigation into the incident is underway.
