Nepali Travelers on Visit Visas Must Now Pre-Fill Self-Declaration Forms Before Arriving at Immigration

Kathmandu. Nepali citizens traveling abroad on visit visas will now be required to fill out a 'Self-Declaration Form' before reaching the immigration counter at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The Immigration Office at TIA issued a press release urging passengers to comply with this directive.

Previously, arrangements were made to allow passengers to fill out the form inside the Immigration Office at TIA. However, the office stated that many passengers were reluctant to fill out the form, claimed ignorance on how to complete it, or caused delays. Furthermore, complaints increased regarding the hassle caused to the passengers themselves and other travelers, leading to lengthy immigration processing times when passengers presented blank forms at the desk. Consequently, the office has implemented this new arrangement.

Under the current regulation, Nepali citizens traveling abroad for visits or other purposes must present a valid passport with at least six months of validity, the relevant country's visa indicating the purpose of travel, and a completed and signed Self-Declaration Form to receive departure clearance.

Henceforth, departing passengers can download the format of the Self-Declaration Form by scanning a QR code available on the website of the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport.
