Arrangements Made for Indian Pilgrims to Return Home Amidst Border Closure for Elections

Mahottari. Arrangements will be made to facilitate the return of Indian pilgrims of the Mithila Madhyamaki Parikrama to their homes. Although the border crossings will be closed from Monday (Falgun 18) midnight until Thursday (Falgun 21) for security purposes due to the House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21, the District Administration Office has stated that facilitation will be provided for the Parikrama's Indian pilgrims to return home.

The Chief District Officer of the district, Indra Dev Yadav, stated that security personnel deployed at the border crossings have arranged facilitation for participating Indian pilgrims to return home from Tuesday (Falgun 19) noon until Wednesday noon.

The District Administration Office has clarified that during the period when the border is closed, facilitation will only be provided for the pilgrims to return (to India). Earlier, there was widespread concern about how Indian pilgrims would return home after the border crossings were closed for security reasons due to the elections.

CDO Yadav said, "The main border crossings for Indian pilgrims to return home are Jaynagar and Jatahi in Dhanusha, and Matihani and Bhiththamore in Mahottari. Security personnel have arranged facilitation to return through these crossings." He added, "This arrangement has been made in coordination with the District Administration Offices of both Mahottari and Dhanusha districts."

The pilgrims of this 15-day Parikrama will reach Janakpur on Monday for their final night's stay. The journey will conclude after completing the Panchkosi Parikrama of Janakpurdham on Tuesday morning. The District Administration Office has stated that after the Parikrama is completed by Tuesday noon, arrangements for facilitation for Indian pilgrims to return home will be made until Wednesday noon.

A significant number of Indian sadhus, saints, and general public are participating in the Parikrama journey.
