Kaski District Bans Alcohol Sales and Consumption Ahead of By-Election

Pokhara. Alcohol consumption and distribution have been prohibited in Kaski starting from 12 AM tonight. The District Administration Office issued a notice banning the sale, distribution, transportation, and consumption of alcoholic beverages throughout the district.

The administration stated that this decision was made to ensure the upcoming House of Representatives by-election on Falgun 21 is conducted in a clean, fair, and fear-free manner. The ban, which starts today, is to remain in effect until the final results of the election are announced.

Assistant Chief District Officer Shiva Lamsal informed that the notice was issued based on the Election Security Directive and the decisions of the Election Commission and the District Security Committee. Cooperation has been sought from hotel operators, liquor vendors, political parties, and all general citizens to maintain peace and security during the election period.

A warning has been issued that legal action will be taken by security agencies through close monitoring if any activity is found to be in violation of the notice.
