Security Agencies Inspect Polling Stations Near India Border Ahead of Federal Elections

Sunsari. Polling stations located in the border areas were inspected targeting the upcoming House of Representatives elections. Security agencies under Koshi Province and Sunsari District have jointly started inspecting polling stations on Wednesday with the objective of conducting the elections in a peaceful, impartial, and fear-free environment.

Sunsari's Chief District Officer, Basudev Ghimire, informed that representatives from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department conducted on-site inspections of security conditions at various polling centers across the district, keeping in view potential security challenges as the election draws nearer.

He stated that polling stations in Barju, Devaganj, Harinagar, and Koshi Rural Municipalities of Sunsari, which border Nepal-India, were inspected. CDO Ghimire mentioned that the inspection was carried out to gather information on the physical structure of the polling centers, identification of sensitive areas, crowd management plans, and emergency situations. Security officials in Sunsari have committed to maintaining high alert throughout the election period and preventing any undesirable activities.

Sunsari's Superintendent of Police, Keshav Kumar Thebe, informed the general voters to participate in the voting process without worry, stating that security strategies are being implemented in coordination with the District Administration Office, Sunsari.
