Provincial Hospital in Tanahun Launches Digital Medical Record System

Tanahun. The Provincial Hospital in the district headquarters Damauli has initiated a 'Digital Medical Record' and examination process. As part of expanding its services, the hospital has brought the entire patient medical record and examination process into operation via computer technology.

Kamalmohan Wagle, Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee, informed that since the new system is in its initial phase of implementation, training for patients and health workers regarding this is continuously underway. He stated that due to this reason, some delays and hassles in service delivery might occur.

He mentioned that with the implementation of the digital system, all patient medical records will be securely stored in the computer system, and it is expected that the hassles associated with paper-based processes will be minimized in the coming days. Wagle said, "This system will allow viewing all patient details with a single click. This will also bring ease to service delivery."

Patients come to the hospital for services from Tanahun, Lamjung, Gorkha, and Kaski districts. Established as a health post in BS 2034 and upgraded to a primary health center in BS 2055, this hospital was upgraded to a hospital in BS 2059.

The hospital has already expanded services including wastewater management, construction of a building with an autoclave for solid waste management, operation of services including an eye specialist, state-of-the-art dental services, anesthesia services, ICU ward with ventilators, modern lab services, digital X-ray, and a free medicine counter.

Furthermore, the hospital has arranged two two-tiered mortuary chambers for storing dead bodies. The hospital stated that in addition to emergency services, pharmacy, ART, laboratory, dental, and eye services, it also provides mental health treatment and dialysis services.

The hospital provided services to 107,983 people in the fiscal year 2081/82. Similarly, 98,356 people received services in the fiscal year 2080/81. Likewise, the hospital provided services to 73,253 in the fiscal year 2079/80. Furthermore, the hospital provided services to 64,594 in the fiscal year 2078/79.
