Kaski Police Intensify Drunken Driving Checks to Curb Road Accidents

Kaski. To minimize road accidents, Kaski Police have intensified checks for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).

A few days after apprehending 10 drivers operating school buses while intoxicated, police arrested six public transport drivers on Sunday in Pokhara on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

District Police Office Deputy Superintendent Hari Bahadur Basnet informed that a joint team from the District Traffic Office and Ward Police Office Ram Bazaar apprehended microbus driver 24-year-old Bibek Ghale, 38-year-old Nir Bahadur Sunar, bus drivers 46-year-old Ranjit Baral, 32-year-old Bel Bahadur BK, 40-year-old Ganesh Khadka, and 29-year-old Pradip Pariyar.

He stated that these individuals were arrested and legal proceedings initiated after they were found to have consumed alcohol during checks conducted between 4 AM and 6 PM. On Saturday, police conducted DUI and drug use (DUI/DUI) checks on boat operators functioning on Phewa Lake.

After checking 45 boat operators, police found four boat operators had used drugs and one boat operator had consumed alcohol, leading to their arrest and the initiation of legal action, police stated. Recently, police have intensified DUI checks in Kaski.
