Suspension Bridge Construction Begins Connecting Two Areas in Myagdi, Nepal

Myagdi. Construction has begun on a suspension bridge connecting Kausibot in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-7 and Bansbot in Ward No.-4 of Myagdi district.

The Federal Government's Suspension Bridge Division in Kathmandu has initiated the construction of a 303-meter-long suspension bridge over the Myagdi River. Prem Prasad Pun, Chairman of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality, informed that Ramkrishna-Somras JV, which signed the contract with the Division last Ashar, has accelerated the construction of the bridge structure.

The contract agreement between the Division and the construction company last Ashar month was for NPR 16,415,025. Pravin Sapkota, a representative of the construction company, stated that although the contract period is 18 months, the bridge will be completed within the current fiscal year.

The structure on the Kausibot side is reaching its final stage. On the Bansbot side, the foundation has been dug and the land prepared. The construction company announced that after the structure is ready, the main cables will be pulled and the steel deck installed. Residents of Hilapokhari, Bansbot, Khorbang, Solwang, Khara, Khamla, Chhahari, Khiwang, Shiwang, Takam, and Kafaldanda in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality will benefit once the bridge is complete.

Rajkumar Koirala from Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-7 stated that the bridge is expected to shorten travel time for commuting and also develop the area as a tourist destination. He mentioned that a journey of one hour will be reduced to five minutes.

It is reported that the bridge will facilitate the marketing of bananas produced by farmers in Bansbot. Two suspension bridges longer than 300 meters were constructed in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality last year. A 365-meter suspension bridge was built over the Marang Khola connecting Ghairibot in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-6 and Khauribang, and a 366-meter suspension bridge was built over the Dar Khola connecting Phaliyagaun in Ward No.-3 and Dar.

Currently, there are six suspension bridges longer than 300 meters in Myagdi. These include a 365.80-meter bridge over the Beg Khola connecting Beg in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-1 and Baduk, a 350-meter bridge connecting Bimwang in Malika Rural Municipality-7 and Rikh in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-6, a 388-meter bridge connecting Ratnechaur in Beni Municipality-1 and Kudule in Baglung Municipality-4, and a 244-meter bridge connecting Shikha in Annapurna Rural Municipality-5 and Kindu.
