Election Commission Directs Local Body Officials to Strictly Adhere to Electoral Code of Conduct

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has directed the office bearers of local level bodies to fully comply with the electoral code of conduct.

The Commission has clarified that in order to ensure a fair, independent, and transparent election, officials in the local executive bodies must not engage in any campaigning or promotion in favor of any political party or candidate.

The Commission stated that action will be taken according to the law if they are found involved in activities that violate the code of conduct.

With the objective of making the election clean, dignified, and trustworthy, the Commission has urged all local representatives and concerned stakeholders to play a responsible role.
