Awareness Campaign Launched in Bhojpur to Ensure Safe Foreign Employment

Bhojpur. Foreign employment has become the main source of economic income for most families in the district. Although the income received from foreign employment has made the daily lives of these families easier, many workers fall victim to fraud and exploitation due to a lack of necessary information and precautions.

Keeping this situation in mind, the Safe Migration in Foreign Employment (SAMI) program has been conducting awareness activities at the grassroots level with the objective of making foreign employment safe, dignified, and exploitation-free. The program has been providing information on minimizing risks related to foreign employment and safe migration.

According to Karna Pulamimagar, Bhojpur District Program Coordinator for SAMI, the work of spreading awareness at the grassroots level to make foreign employment safe and risk-free is becoming effective. "We are conducting awareness programs in every village to make foreign employment systematic, dignified, and safe," he said.

Under the program, counseling services related to foreign employment are being provided through the Migrant Resource Center, and facilitation is being done for free legal services for those who have been defrauded. Furthermore, necessary initiatives are being taken to help the families of workers who have been maimed or died during foreign employment to receive compensation.

Similarly, SAMI Bhojpur has stated that financial literacy programs, psychosocial counseling classes, and capacity-building activities are being conducted to utilize remittances productively in income-generating sectors.
