Armed Police Force Deploys 23 Senior Superintendents Nationwide for Election Monitoring

Kathmandu. The Armed Police Force Nepal Headquarters is deploying 23 Senior Superintendents of Armed Police Force across the country starting Monday for election monitoring.

On Sunday, Falgun 10, Inspector General of Armed Police Raju Aryal gave special instructions virtually to the officers being deployed from the headquarters and provincial battalion headquarters, including those from the valley.

He directed them to face any adverse situation that might arise before, during, and after the election to ensure its completion. Inspector General Aryal instructed them to be more vigilant in protecting candidates, polling centers, voters, and ballot boxes during the election period, as various challenges may arise.

He also instructed them to collect security-related information during the election period, coordinate with commanders at all levels, stay in contact with all candidates, and report any shortcomings or immediate tasks in the field to the headquarters as quickly as possible. Furthermore, he directed the election police to behave courteously and politely and to work in a manner that avoids any complaints regarding their facilities and services.

Instructions were also given to monitor the border areas, and in case of the use of force during the election, to protect and fully adhere to human rights, ensuring necessary evidence is kept at the time of force application.

Inspector General Aryal also clearly instructed all subordinate commanders to identify those attempting to disrupt the election, formulate strategies accordingly, and use force according to the law.

Spokesperson Bishnu Prasad Bhatta informed that the senior officers deploying from Monday to monitor all 77 districts will also play a coordinating role between the field and the headquarters.
