Australian Parliament Honors Nepali Community's Contributions, Recognizes NRNA Australia

The Parliament of Australia has honored the contributions of the Nepali community. The Parliament of New South Wales formally recognized and honored the contributions of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia by presenting a 'Community Recognition Statement'.

In a statement delivered in parliament, Member of Parliament Mark Coure praised the organization's work and thanked Anil Pokharel, the outgoing president of NRNA Australia. Coure stated that Pokharel made significant contributions to the empowerment of the Nepali community across New South Wales and Australia.

'It is a matter of pride that the Australian Parliament has honored NRNA Australia and Nepalis in this manner and recorded it in the parliament. This has further encouraged us to work,' said Pokharel, expressing happiness over the honor bestowed by the parliament.

MP Mark Coure, through parliament, welcomed the newly appointed president Santosh Kunwar and expressed expectations of future collaboration. In the statement, MP Coure appreciated the role played by NRNA Australia in strengthening the upliftment, unity, and identity of the Nepali community across New South Wales and all of Australia. He mentioned that the St George area is one of the major centers for Nepalis residing in Australia and stated that NRNA's activism has empowered the community.

According to the statement presented in parliament, NRNA Australia has achieved various notable milestones in the last two years. It was mentioned that the organization organized nine 'Nepal Festivals' across various states and regions, gathering over one hundred thousand participants, distributed over $72,000 through its social welfare fund, and provided consular services to more than three thousand Nepalis.

Furthermore, it was stated that the organization established its own office to provide emergency assistance and social services targeting the Nepali community, and this office is also being used as a center for community gatherings and program operations.
