Election Commission Urges Parliamentary Candidates to Expedite Bank Account Opening for Campaign Expenses

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has urged candidates for the House of Representatives to expedite the process of opening bank accounts. At a regular press conference held on Friday, the Commission cautioned the remaining candidates to immediately open accounts as all election campaign-related expenses must be channeled through these accounts.

Commission's Assistant Spokesperson Sita Pun Shrestha stated that due to public holidays, candidates might face difficulties in opening these accounts, and they have been cautioned against further delay. She added that the Commission has already instructed banks to facilitate the account opening process for the candidates. 

The Election Commission's election code of conduct mandates that candidates must open a bank account and conduct all election expenditures through it to ensure transparency in campaign spending.
