Residents in Kanchanpur Terrified as Tigers Spotted Near Settlement

Kanchanpur. Locals in the Garjamuni area of Shuklaphanta Municipality-5 are terrified after a Royal Bengal Tiger was repeatedly sighted, prompting the administration to urge everyone to remain vigilant.

Local residents are frightened after tigers coming from Shuklaphanta National Park entered the settlement and began killing domestic livestock. The Trishakti Consumer Committee has also urged them to remain alert.

Committee Chairman Daman Bahadur Chand stated that after the tigers started entering the settlement, locals living near the park were requested not to walk around at night, to only go out in groups carrying sufficient light (torches) if necessary, and to keep the bushes and shrubs around their homes and sheds clean.

"We have cautioned them not to go alone when working in the fields bordering the park, or when going to collect firewood, grass, or graze livestock, and to only work in groups," he said. "We have urged them to report to the National Park administration, the Nepali Army, the municipality, or the ward office if they see a tiger or find out that a tiger has killed livestock."
