Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa Pledges Merit-Based Appointments, Asset Disclosure Mandate

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that future government appointments will prioritize merit over party affiliation. Speaking at an interaction program in Kathmandu titled 'Our Pledge, Your Question' on Thursday, President Thapa said, 'The Nepali Congress will now seek competence, not party affiliation, in appointments.'

He further announced that they will mandate a system requiring the mandatory public disclosure of asset details before taking the oath of office and after leaving the post. 'We will make it mandatory to publicly disclose asset details before taking the oath of appointment and after leaving the position,' said President Thapa. He also stated that services received by citizens will be made citizen-centric rather than office-centric.

Thapa mentioned that a system for providing compensation in case of service delays will be implemented.
