Nepali Congress President Thapa Hails 2007 Revolution as Genesis of Nepal's Political Changes

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa stated that the historic People's Revolution of 2007 is the mother of all subsequent political changes in Nepal. Issuing a congratulatory message on the occasion of National Democracy Day, he mentioned that Falgun 7 laid the foundation for modern history by ending the autocratic Rana regime that lasted 104 years.

Thapa asserted that the 2007 revolution was not merely a political change but a courageous step that paved the way for progress in the economic, social, and cultural sectors. According to him, democracy has built a strong foundation for consolidated nationalism, civil rights, and public participation.

Thapa argues that the main energy driving the country from the changes of 2046 and the movement of 2062/63 to the Federal Democratic Republic stems from the revolution of Falgun 7. He stated that this day holds great significance in the struggle for national sovereignty as it steered Nepal from a medieval feudal structure towards a modern democratic journey.

President Thapa paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives for the establishment of democracy, noting that the true respect for them lies in the protection of the constitution and the stability of federalism. He expressed his belief that the dreams of the martyrs will only be realized if Nepal can be transformed into an economically prosperous nation.
