UN Secretary-General Hopes for Decisive Outcome in Iran-US Talks

Kathmandu. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed hope that the talks between Iran and the United States will yield decisive and constructive results. UN Secretary-General's spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, welcomed the continuation of indirect talks between Iran and the US during an interview with journalists. The first phase of these talks was hosted by Oman, while the second phase took place in Geneva, Switzerland.

Guterres expressed hope that the talks would lead to a sustainable resolution ending regional tensions and war, emphasizing that conflicts must be resolved in accordance with the UN Charter. The indirect talks between Tehran and Washington began on February 6 in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

There, the Iranian and American delegations exchanged various perspectives through Omani mediation before agreeing to hold the second phase of talks in Geneva.
