Police Seize Nearly 3 Kg of Silver from Youth at Kathmandu Entry Point

Kathmandu. Police have apprehended a young man carrying nearly 3 kg of silver at Nagdhunga, the main entry point to Kathmandu. Acting on a special tip-off, a police team arrested a 17-year-old youth from Parsa during a search, finding silver granules being smuggled illegally.

According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, a passenger bus (Ba Pra 01-006 Kha 5529) traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu was stopped at the Nagdhunga checkpoint around 4 PM on Wednesday. During a search conducted by a joint team from the Nagdhunga Police Post and the Narcotics Control Bureau, silver was discovered hidden inside a black bag carried by the youth traveling on the bus, wrapped in white plastic.

Police Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai informed that the seized 2 kg 900 grams of silver is valued at approximately 1,214,520 Nepali Rupees in the market. The illegally trafficked silver and the arrested youth have been handed over to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office, Gauchar, for necessary legal action.
