Engineers Association Demands Action After Technical Staffer Shot in Sarlahi

The Nepal Engineers Association has drawn the serious attention of the government regarding the incident where a technical staffer working in Sarlahi was shot. The Association visited the Ministry of Home Affairs today and submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister, demanding the immediate arrest and strict action against the culprits, and ensuring the security of engineers at their workplaces.

Stating that insecurity is increasing for technical personnel deployed in public development works, the Association has pressured the government to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents. While submitting the memorandum, Association Central Member Engineer Bikram Kumar Das stated that the state should not overlook the issue of security for engineers and technical staff.

He warned that it would be difficult to work without a guarantee of professional security and that engineers across the country would be forced to protest if the government does not take effective steps immediately. The Association emphasized prioritizing security arrangements, as such fatal attacks at the workplace lower employee morale.

The Association strongly demanded that the government conduct an impartial investigation into the Sarlahi incident to bring out the facts and create an environment where engineers across the country can work without fear.
