Afghanistan Clinches Victory Over UAE by Five Wickets in T20 World Cup Group D Match

New Delhi. Afghanistan defeated UAE by five wickets in the Group 'D' match of the T20 World Cup. The team chased down the target of 161 runs set by the UAE with 4 balls remaining, losing 5 wickets, in the match held in New Delhi on Monday.

This is also the team's first victory in the ongoing tournament. Afghanistan was defeated by New Zealand by five wickets in their first T20 World Cup match. In the second match, the team was stunned by South Africa in a Super Over.

Meanwhile, UAE was defeated by New Zealand by 10 wickets in their first match. The team made a comeback in the second match, defeating Canada by five wickets. Ibrahim Zadran scored a half-century for Afghanistan. He scored 53 runs off 41 balls, hitting 6 fours and 1 six.

Darwish Rasooli contributed 33 runs off 23 balls. He hit 3 sixes and 1 four. Azmatullah Omarzai secured the victory for the team by scoring 40 runs off 21 balls towards the end of the match. He hit 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Sediqullah Atal scored 16 runs, and Gulbadin Naib scored 13 runs.

Earlier, after losing the toss and choosing to bat first, UAE scored 160 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Shoaib Khan played a half-century innings for the team. He scored 68 runs off 48 balls, hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Similarly, Alishan Sharafu contributed 40 runs off 31 balls. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Syed Haider and Hayder Ali contributed 13 runs each. Captain Mohammad Waseem scored 10 runs. The remaining batters could not score in double digits.

For Afghanistan, Azmatullah Omarzai bowled 4 overs, conceding 15 runs and taking 4 wickets. Mujeeb Ur Rahman took 2 wickets. Captain Rashid Khan took 1 wicket. With this, Khan also became the first player to take 700 wickets in T20s.
