Former Deputy PM Kamal Thapa Claims Nepali Congress Also Acts as a Conduit for Leftist Ideology

Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa stated that he considers the Nepali Congress to also be a force carrying leftist ideology and power. He made this remark while speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Leader Thapa mentioned that leftist ideologies and forces have dominated Nepal's national politics for a long time, claiming that the Nepali Congress has also advanced itself according to that same ideology. 

He further asserted that although Vedic values, beliefs, and traditions are deeply rooted in Nepali society, the country has reached a paradoxical situation because communism, Marxism, and socialism have steered it in the opposite direction.

He said, 'The national politics of Nepal has fundamentally been dominated by leftist ideas and forces. I consider the Nepali Congress also as a conduit for leftist ideas and forces. This is because, in political science, society is often viewed as a left-oriented political ideology. Throughout this 70-year-long ideological journey, everything from extreme communism to democratic socialism has prevailed.'

He added, 'On one hand, the Nepali populace has faith in the eternal religion, culture, and tradition, and is inspired by the ideological concepts arising from them. The values and beliefs since the Vedic period are strongly rooted in Nepali society. The ancient Vedic values and traditions are the distinct character of Nepali society. But on the other hand, politically, communism, Marxism, and socialism, which hold the exact opposite beliefs, have steered and led our society. That contradiction has been troubling me. It is my belief that this paradox must end.'

Leader Thapa reiterated his insistence that the indispensable necessity of a monarchy along with a Hindu state is required to move the country in the right direction. -News Agency Nepal
