Kaski 2 Candidate Removed Amid Allegations of High-Level Conspiracy Within CPN-UML

Pokhara. There was a major upheaval within CPN-UML during the nomination period. Rashmi Acharya was nominated after Krishna Thapa, who had received the ticket for Kaski 2, was removed. Although Thapa is currently campaigning, he is dissatisfied with the revocation of his ticket.

He has accused high-ranking party leaders of orchestrating a low-level, malicious conspiracy against him. In an interview, he stated that the conspiracy was orchestrated by Central Secretary Khagaraj Adhikari. He said, 'Many things cannot happen without consulting the secretary! Anyone, A, B, C, or D, can make this assumption.'

Thapa claimed that Party Vice-Chairman Prithvisubba Gurung had informed him about the decision regarding the ticket. He further stated, 'At 10:30 PM, after the decision was made, Party Vice-Chairman Prithvisubba Gurung called me and said, Your decision is made, congratulations.' However, he added, 'My name was removed conspiratorially at the last moment. There is a conspiracy involving office-bearers.'

Previously, in the Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor election, Thapa himself had taken the ticket from another candidate after protests. After criticism and opposition from the cadre level against leader Deepak Paudel, who had received the ticket, Thapa was made to resign from his Provincial Assembly membership and handed the ticket. A video of Paudel taking a chain from a jewelry shop had gone viral at that time. Thapa currently claims that he received the ticket without lobbying party leaders.
