Two Arrested in Rautahat for Possessing Counterfeit Nepali Currency

Rautahat. Two individuals have been arrested in Rautahat for possessing 14 counterfeit Nepali thousand-rupee notes. According to the District Police Office, Rautahat, the incident came to light around 3 PM on Thursday when the two attempted to use counterfeit notes while buying petrol at Vishal Kirana Store in Bishrampur Bazaar, Brindawan Municipality-1.

Those arrested have been identified as 32-year-old Dinesh Patel of Brindawan-2 Bishrampur and 30-year-old Vivek Prasad Yadav of Sarlahi Barahathwa Municipality-1. They arrived on a motorcycle bearing the license plate BR 30 AR 7755.

According to DSP Bishnu Pradip Basnyal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rautahat, the shop owner reported the notes as suspicious after which the police were informed. A police team dispatched to the scene investigated and recovered a total of 14 counterfeit notes: 12 thousand-rupee notes from Dinesh Patel's pocket and 2 thousand-rupee notes hidden inside the mobile cover of Vivek Prasad Yadav.

Police stated that both individuals have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
