UK Pledges Millions in Air Defense Aid for Ukraine to Counter Russian Attacks on Energy Infrastructure

Kathmandu. Britain has announced an air defense package worth millions of dollars with the aim of helping Ukraine stop Russian attacks on its energy and heating systems. This commitment, made on Thursday, is expected to further aid in protecting the war-torn Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.

According to the British Ministry of Defence, approximately $200 million will be spent on purchasing American weapons. This arrangement will be under the NATO plan supported by US President Donald Trump. Along with this, London has announced its decision to send over 1,000 British-made light missiles worth more than $500 million to Kyiv.

British Defence Secretary John Healey stated that Ukraine's allies are 'more committed than ever.' He emphasized the need to further strengthen support as the war initiated by Russia moves towards its fifth year.

This announcement came after the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, where detailed discussions were held on how to provide further military assistance to Ukraine.

Following intense Russian bombing of Ukraine's energy structure, heating and electricity supplies have been disrupted in various regions amidst the cold winter. German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius described this situation as 'terrorism against the civilian population of Ukraine.' He stressed that further support for Ukraine for self-defense is essential.
