CPN Chairman Prachanda Urges Viewing Elections as Crucial Opportunity to Defend National Sovereignty

Baglung. The Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has stated that the current election must be viewed as an extraordinary opportunity to stand in defense of the nation's protection and independence. He made these remarks while addressing a program in Burtibang, Baglung, on Thursday.

Interacting with the people, voters, and party leaders and cadres in Burtibang, Baglung, he mentioned that although political parties and the public desired elections in 2084 BS, the current election is taking place due to circumstances that have become mandatory. He noted that the events of Bhadra 23 and 24 created a dire situation in the country, and at that time, the political leadership, especially he and Co-Chairman Madhav Nepal, used discretion and took special initiatives to save the country from the crisis.

"We learned that the objective of that incident on the 24th was not merely to burn and loot; there was a plan to remove the President, install a puppet government in the country, and push Nepal towards a situation similar to Ukraine," he said. He stated that the constitution was somewhat 'injured' by this incident, and now the responsibility to protect it has fallen on the shoulders of nationalist forces.

Chairman Prachanda stated that this election is not a normal competition but a battle between those trying to destabilize the country at the behest of foreign powers and those wishing to strengthen nationalist forces. "A serious question has arisen about who was running the state from the 24th to the 26th. This election is a fight to establish that the leadership of the country is in the hands of the people," he said.

He mentioned that world politics has entered a new phase and stressed that a small country like Nepal should not be misused for the conflicts of larger powers. "There is a danger that Nepal's geography, rather than its minerals or resources, might be used to advance conflicts elsewhere," he said.

Citing examples from the Ukraine war and events in Venezuela, he urged vigilance against the risk of foreign interference. "We are concerned that the calves might get crushed in the fight between the bulls," he said. Calling for the election to be taken as an opportunity to defend the nation and its sovereignty, he urged the public to unite and actively prevent conspiracies and machinations against the country.

On that occasion, he mentioned that he is developing various plans to connect the development of Baglung, Rukum East, Rukum West, and Rolpa. He expressed pride in giving the ticket to a young leader like Gyanlal Garel, the candidate for Baglung-2, and committed that if the people vote him to victory in the election, the party would give him appropriate responsibility in the interest of the people of Baglung-2.

At the program, CPN-Masal General Secretary Mohan Bikram Singh, CPN leader Pampha Bhusal, and Baglung-2 candidate Gyanlal Garel, among other leaders, also addressed the gathering. They emphasized the need for leftist and nationalist forces to unite in the current political situation to protect the country's independence and the constitution.
