Kathmandu District Administration Imposes Curfew Inside Tribhuvan International Airport's Golden Gate Area

The Kathmandu District Administration Office has imposed a prohibitory order (curfew) inside the Golden Gate area of the international airport. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, stated that the curfew has been enforced on all roads from the Golden Gate to the airport premises area.

Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Ishwar Raj Paudel, issued the curfew following plans by royalists to organize a demonstration when former King Gyanendra Shah returns to Kathmandu on Friday. According to the notice issued by the District Administration Office, more than 5 people are not allowed to gather in areas including the airport's domestic terminal area, international terminal area, and parking. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, stated that the curfew will remain in effect for 1 month starting today.

The former King is currently in Jhapa. Royalists are planning a demonstration upon his arrival in Kathmandu tomorrow. The administration stated that demonstrations are permitted in the orbital road area if permission is obtained, but action will be taken if public property is vandalized.
