Security Forces Seize Truck and Motorcycle Smuggling Illegal Sal Timber in Rautahat

Rautahat. Armed Police Force and Forest Security teams in Rautahat have seized a Tata Sumo vehicle carrying illegal Sal timber and one motorcycle. The joint patrol team recovered the vehicle along with the timber while illegal Sal wood smuggling was taking place in the Jangalsahiyā area. The joint team from the Jangalsahiyā Sub-Division Forest Office and the Armed Police Force recovered two logs of Sal wood during a patrol around 9:30 PM on Wednesday.

The team, deployed under the leadership of Binod Jethara, Chief of the Jangalsahiyā Sub-Division Forest Office, inspected suspicious activity near the Bagmati canal within the Jangalsahiyā partnership forest during a routine patrol. The Division Forest Office, Chandranigahpur, stated that Sal timber loaded in an Indian-plated Sumo vehicle and a motorcycle with license plate Na 67 P 1051 were recovered during the inspection.

Division Chief Hemant Kumar Sah stated that the smugglers involved in the timber smuggling fled, abandoning the vehicles as soon as the team arrived. The recovered timber, Sumo, and motorcycle are currently kept at the Division Forest Office, Rautahat.

Chief Sah informed that the process of measuring the timber and further investigation has been initiated, and the search for the absconding smugglers is ongoing.

The Division Forest Office, Rautahat, stated that joint patrol teams, including the Armed Police Force, have been strictly mobilized across the district, targeting the possibility of increased timber smuggling in forest areas as the House of Representatives election scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21 approaches.
