President Paudel Stresses Political Commitment is Key to Controlling Corruption

Kathmandu. President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that firm political commitment is the first prerequisite for controlling corruption. Addressing a ceremony organized on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Wednesday, President Paudel said, 'Positive changes in the work culture of political office-bearers also guide the administrative sector.'

Mentioning that strengthening democracy is our desire, Paudel said, 'Let us not forget that the younger generation has just expressed that same desire.' He stated that the benefits of democracy cannot reach the people's homes without good governance and transparency. He said, 'Controlling corruption is an essential condition for achieving prosperity.'

'All forms of corruption must be brought under the scope of investigation,' President Paudel said, 'When public power is used for personal interest, it damages the trust the people have placed in the state.'

Abuse of authority is not a minor error but a serious challenge to social justice, Paudel stated. He said, 'The fight against corruption is not the responsibility of just one institution; this fight is possible only through a united commitment.'
