Bollywood Actor Rajpal Yadav Expresses Distress Before Surrendering to Jail Over Debt Case; Sonu Sood Steps In to Help

Kathmandu. Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav expressed his anguish before surrendering to Tihar Jail in connection with a case involving a 90 million Indian Rupee debt and bounced checks.

Rajpal, who stated he was in serious financial crisis with no one to turn to for help, has received a helping hand from actor Sonu Sood. Sonu announced that he is signing Rajpal for his new film and will also provide some amount as a 'signing amount'.

Sonu Sood wrote on social media that Rajpal Yadav is a talented artist and that time is sometimes unfair. According to Sonu, this help is not charity but a respect and dignity for an artist.

He stated that the film industry is a family and it is the responsibility of all producers and directors to support colleagues in distress. Along with Sonu, Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav, owner of James Tune Music, has also provided financial assistance of 11.1 million Indian Rupees to Rajpal and appealed to the countrymen to also support him.

This dispute, dating back to 2010, began with a 50 million loan taken for the film 'Ata Pata Laapata', directed by Rajpal. After the film flopped, the checks he issued to repay the loan bounced. Including interest, the amount has now escalated to 90 million.

In 2018, a Delhi court sentenced him to six months in jail. Although he received some relief in between, he ultimately surrendered after failing to repay the amount.

Before going to jail, he expressed despair, saying that in the film industry, no one is anyone's friend, and he had to fight this battle alone.
