Three Women Seriously Injured in Rautahat After Dispute Over Grass Cutting in Field

Rautahat. Three women were seriously injured in a collective attack on Monday night over a dispute concerning grass cutting in a field within the Devani Gonahi municipality area of Rautahat. One man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Rajesh Tiwari, nephew of Mahesh Tiwari, stated that the seriously injured victims are Mahesh Tiwari's daughters, 25-year-old Asmita Tiwari and 15-year-old Susmita Tiwari, and 40-year-old Anatiya Bin, wife of Bachelal Mukhiya, all from Ward 5, Tikuliya village. Tiwari mentioned that Anatiya sustained a deep cut on her head, while Susmita and Asmita suffered injuries all over their bodies.

Immediately following the incident, the injured were taken by ambulance for treatment at A Plus Hospital in Kalaiya, Bara, during the night. Doctors reported that the injured are being treated in the ICU and their condition is gradually stabilizing.

Rautahat Police Chief SP Sitaram Rijal confirmed that Shambhu Rai Yadav, 40, son of local Shankar Rai Yadav, who was involved in the incident, has been arrested and is currently in the custody of the Garuda Area Police Office.

According to the incident details, women from Shankar Rai's household had cut grass in Mahesh Tiwari's mustard field last Sunday. A dispute arose on Monday evening when Mahesh Tiwari's daughter, Asmita, complained to Shankar Rai, arguing that cutting grass when the mustard crop was ready for harvest caused damage.

Following the dispute, Shankar Rai Yadav, his son Shambhu Yadav, and the women from his household allegedly entered Tiwari's house and brutally assaulted both daughters using objects including iron rods. The victim stated that the neighbor, Anatiya Bin, who tried to intervene and stop the beating, was also severely assaulted.

The District Police Office, Rautahat, has stated that necessary investigation into the incident is underway. Eyewitnesses reported that the accused Shankar Rai Yadav, who had been hiding after the incident, pretended to be injured and went for treatment by ambulance last night after the police left.
