Prime Minister Directs Continued Training for Asian Games Medal Target

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed the continuation of training programs aimed at securing double-digit medals, including gold, in the 20th Asian Games.

During a meeting today with a delegation including National Sports Council Member Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta, National Team Preparation Director Olympian Deepak Bista, and Deputy Director Deepak Shrestha, she instructed that no effort should be spared in encouraging the athletes and preparing for the games. 

Prime Minister Karki also instructed Member Secretary Mehta to arrange the necessary budget and other provisions to ensure no shortcomings in the preparation for the Asian Games to be held in Japan next Assoj.

The National Sports Council (Rakhep) has been providing special training to 11 teams across 10 sports for the past two years, targeting medals. Since the budget allocated for the current fiscal year could only sustain the program until this coming Magh, Director Bista requested the Prime Minister to manage the remaining funds. 

Prime Minister Karki, who also holds the responsibility for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, urged necessary coordination with the Ministry of Finance for budget management.
