KP Sharma Oli Links National Aspirations to Ancient Nepali Civilization and Vedic Teachings

Jhapa. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli stated that the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' is guided by the essence of ancient Nepali civilization and the Vedas. Addressing a religious ritual, Chairman Oli claimed that Nepal is a country with a glorious history spanning 5,000 years and asserted that the tradition of knowledge and science here is world-leading.

He mentioned that the mantra 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah' (May all be happy) has been made the basis of prosperity in the modern era. During his address, Oli clarified the difference between 'Hindu Nation' and 'Sanatana Dharma' (Eternal Religion), interpreting Sanatana as the core civilization and identity of Nepal. Stating that the term 'Hindu Nation' has only come into use in the last few centuries, he opined that the Sanatana tradition is the shared heritage of all Nepalis who follow any religion.

Oli claimed that medical science (surgery) originated from the land of Nepal, discussing the contributions of sages Vishwamitra and Sushruta. He described Nepal as 'Devbhumi' (Land of Gods), 'Tapobhumi' (Land of Penance), and 'Gyanbhumi' (Land of Knowledge), expressing his resolve to restore Nepal's fading glory.

Oli, participating in the program as a candidate, clarified that he is mindful of the election code of conduct and has come not for election campaigning but to reiterate his resolve to build the nation. He shared the constraint that due to the code of conduct, he was unable to offer donations during the Puranas, despite his desire to do so.
