Senior CPN Leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha Calls for Strong Anti-Corruption Campaign Amid Widespread Graft

Sarlahi. Senior leader of the CPN (Communist Party of Nepal) and former Deputy Prime Minister/former Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has stated that corruption is rampant in the country and called for the launch of a strong good governance campaign against it.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the election mobilization committee office for Sarlahi Constituency No. 4, held at Koiri Tole in Barhathwa Municipality, Sarlahi, Shrestha mentioned that corruption has weakened the nation and disheartened the public. He expressed the view that "the principle that everyone is equal before the law must be implemented in practice," and insisted that action must be taken against whoever is guilty.

Shrestha noted that during the government's recent tenure, investigations and legal proceedings were advanced in cases such as the Bhutanese Refugee Scam, Lalita Niwas Scam, Gold Smuggling Scam, and Bansbari Land Deal Scandal, and that strict measures were also taken against encroachers of public and government land.

He alleged that instead of supporting the good governance campaign, the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML created obstacles, which he claimed led to the fall of the government and halted the pace of development and prosperity.

Shrestha also urged voters to stand in favor of good governance, prosperity, and social justice while protecting the constitution, democracy, and national independence. 

Narayan Kaji Shrestha is a candidate for the House of Representatives from Sarlahi Constituency No. 3. Similarly, Dr. Rajneesh Yadav is the candidate from the CPN for Sarlahi Constituency No. 4.
