Finance Minister Assures No Funding Shortfall for Upcoming Elections

Myagdi. Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has clarified that there will be no obstruction to the elections due to a lack of resources. He directed that preparations for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for the upcoming Falgun 21 be continued without worry, as the government has arranged the necessary financial resources.

Khanal, who arrived in Beni on Wednesday, gathered information from security agencies, the Chief Election Officer, and election office officials regarding election preparations and the current situation in the district.

"The government's primary responsibility right now is to create an environment where all political parties, both new and old, participate in the election in a cordial and peaceful manner and make it successful," said Finance Minister Khanal, adding, "I assure you that the election will not be obstructed due to a lack of resources."

He urged sensitivity in stopping the flow of false and misleading information. He stated that the government has strategized to confront the challenges posed by misleading and false information, as well as the weapons looted on Bhadra 24, for the election.

Minister Khanal stated that if voting faces problems in any location on Falgun 21 due to weather, the Election Commission will make an immediate decision, clarifying that the government will not compromise on the election date.

Minister Khanal received updates on election preparations from Chief Election Officer Suryabahadur Thapa, Chief District Officer Rabindra Acharya, and other security officials. They informed him that preparations for the election have proceeded peacefully and cordially so far.

District Election Officer Bimalprasad Gautam informed that the collection of names for temporary voters and election staff has been completed. Myagdi, which has 6 local levels and 45 wards, has one constituency for the House of Representatives.

In Myagdi, there are 11 candidates from political parties and one independent candidate. There are 86,397 voters. There are 82 polling stations and 120 polling centers.
