Two Arrested in Siraha for Allegedly Trafficking Man to India, Holding Him Captive

Siraha. Two individuals have been arrested on charges of luring a young man to India with the promise of an attractive salary for foreign employment and subsequently holding him captive.

According to Ramesh Bahadur Pal, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Suraj Mukhiya, 26, of Kalyanpur Municipality-7, and Prashant Chaudhary, 22, of Lahan Municipality-11, have been arrested.

The accused allegedly lured Rishikeshkumar Marik, 26, of Kalyanpur Gana-Palika-7, with the promise of securing him a lucrative job in Gaya, India. The victim stated that upon arrival there on Poush 20, his mobile phone and certificate were confiscated, and he was held captive in a hostel.

Police reported that the accused beat the victim while he was held captive, threatened to kill him, and extorted ransom money from his family. The accused extorted NPR 217,200 from the victim's family and INR 30,000 from Marik.
