CPN-UML Leader Suggests Postponing Elections in Himalayan Regions to Second Phase

Kathmandu. CPN-UML leader Nabraj Silwal has stated that the government should proceed with holding elections in the Himalayan regions during the second phase. Speaking at a discussion organized by the Nepal Law Society with experts regarding the House of Representatives elections on Tuesday, he suggested postponing the elections in the Himalayan region due to reasons including weather.

Leader Silwal concluded that the country can now be considered to have entered the election phase based on the preparations made by political parties, the Election Commission, security agencies, and the government. He stated that apart from geographical challenges, there are no other security challenges that would prevent the elections from taking place in the Himalayan region.  

He expressed dissatisfaction that the case filed in the Supreme Court regarding the restoration of parliament has not yet been heard. He remarked that the dignity of the judiciary would increase further if the court could express a clear opinion in a timely manner. He stated that it is necessary for the court to make a clear 'Yes or No' decision on the matter promptly after the case is presented.
