Western Low-Pressure System Affects Nepal, Bringing Clouds and Potential Snowfall in High Mountains

Kathmandu. Currently, a western low-pressure system has a partial influence over Nepal. There is partial cloud cover across the country. Some areas in the Terai region are experiencing fog, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

This afternoon, the Himalayan regions of the country will generally be cloudy. Gandaki, Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with the hilly regions of other provinces, will experience partial cloud cover, while the remaining Terai areas will remain mostly clear. There is a possibility of moderate snowfall and rain in some parts of the high hills and Himalayas.

Similarly, tonight, the Himalayan regions of the country will generally be cloudy, and Gandaki, Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with the hilly regions of the remaining provinces, will have partial cloud cover, while the remaining Terai areas will remain clear. There is a possibility of moderate snowfall and rain in some parts of the high hills and Himalayas.

The Division has requested the public to take necessary precautions as the influence of fog/haze will persist in the Terai regions of the country, and there is a possibility of light to moderate snowfall and rain in some parts of all Himalayan regions, which is expected to increase cold and affect daily life, tourism, trekking, health, as well as air and road transportation.
