Koshi Province Assembly Finalizes Agreement to Use Biratnagar's Birendra Convention Hall for Sessions

Biratnagar. A formal agreement was signed on Sunday between Biratnagar Metropolitan City and the Provincial Assembly Secretariat for the operation of the Koshi Province Assembly. A contract agreement was reached between the two parties for the use of the Birendra Convention Hall, owned by the Metropolitan City, as the venue for the Provincial Assembly meetings.

The agreement document was signed by the Metropolitan City's Chief Administrative Officer Yogendra Prasad Dulal and the Provincial Assembly Secretary Sudarshan Khadka, in the presence of Biratnagar Mayor Nagesh Koirala and Deputy Mayor Shilpa Nirala Karki. According to the agreement, the Convention Hall will be used for a period of six months, from Magh 18 to Shrawan 17, 2083 BS. In return, the Provincial Assembly Secretariat will pay the Metropolitan City a monthly rent of 8 lakh rupees, and the Secretariat will also bear other taxes applicable according to prevailing laws.

Meetings have been facing difficulties since the Provincial Assembly building was completely destroyed by arson during the 'Genji' protests on Bhadra 24 last year. Earlier, preparations were made to hold meetings in the vegetable market building in Katari, Morang, but it was not possible due to a lack of infrastructure.
