Rapti Academy of Health Sciences to Begin Cancer Treatment Services Following Agreement with B.P. Koirala Cancer Hospital

Butwal. Cancer treatment services are now set to begin at the Rapti Academy of Health Sciences located in Ghorahi, Dang. A formal agreement was signed between the academy and the B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan, on Sunday to expand the services.

The agreement was signed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of the Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, Prof. Shyam Lamsal, and the Executive Director of the B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Dr. Shivji Poudel. The agreement was witnessed by the Acting Dean of the Academy, Prof. Dr. Ramesh Kandel, and the Deputy Director of the Cancer Hospital, Dr. Umesh Nepal.

According to the agreement, the two institutions will exchange necessary human resources for cancer treatment. Until now, due to the lack of specialized cancer treatment facilities in Dang, patients from the region were compelled to travel to Chitwan, Kathmandu, or various cities in India for treatment.

It is expected that once this agreement is implemented, citizens from the former Rapti Zone as well as Western Nepal will receive specialized services from a convenient location. 'When treatment is not available in the district, the citizens here are forced to go elsewhere,' said Prof. Lamsal, 'This agreement will make it much easier for citizens to receive services from the hospital right in their neighborhood.'
