Prime Minister Offers Tributes at Martyr's Memorial on Martyrs' Day

Kathmandu. On the occasion of Martyrs' Day today, Prime Minister Sushila Karki offered floral tributes at the Martyr's Memorial in Lainchaur this morning. There is a tradition of observing Martyrs' Day with a week-long program to honor the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in various historical periods during movements for democracy, the nation, and independence on behalf of the people.

A special tribute assembly was organized today at the Martyr's Garden in Lainchaur, the final day of the week-long program. A procession that gathered at Shanti Batika, featuring the bands of the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, a march past, and a carriage carrying photographs of the martyrs, concluded at the Martyr's Garden in Lainchaur, transforming into the tribute assembly.

The assembly was attended by the Prime Minister, ministers, high-ranking government officials, elected representatives, and heads of security agencies. The government has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Martyrs' Day.

Previously, the central government had cut the public holiday granted on the occasion of Martyrs' Day. However, the government had already decided in 2080 BS to grant a public holiday on Martyrs' Day starting from 2081 BS.
