Koshi Province Recommends Winter Session of Provincial Assembly for January 25

Biratnagar. The Koshi Province government has decided to recommend to the Provincial Chief to summon the upcoming winter session of the Provincial Assembly for January 25. Internal Affairs and Law Minister Indramani Parajuli informed that the cabinet meeting held today recommended calling the Provincial Assembly session for 2 PM on January 25.

Informing about the decisions of the meeting, Minister Parajuli stated that since the Provincial Assembly's own building and secretariat are currently under construction, the session will be conducted at the Birendra Convention Hall in Biratnagar as an alternative arrangement. He mentioned that the meeting will be held with a monthly rent of eight lakh rupees.

The cabinet meeting also made six other important decisions related to the province's development and legal structure. The government approved the Koshi Province Planning Commission Formation and Operation (Formation Order) 2082, which was revised and presented by the Law, Justice, and Provincial Affairs Committee of the Council of Ministers.

Likewise, the government gave in-principle agreement to prepare a draft of the Koshi Province Legal Aid Bill to arrange for legal aid provisions in the province. The meeting also passed a proposal to grant tax exemption to vehicles used in the Koshi Pump Chandra Nahar Irrigation Project, which is being operated through mutual agreement between Nepal and the Government of Japan, under development projects.

It was decided to provide a 12.5 percent matching fund from the provincial government to effectively operate the Rural Road Network Improvement Project. Under this program, the federal government has provided Rs 77 crore in capital and Rs 70 lakh in current funds. The cabinet has approved the Koshi Janata Housing Standards and Procedure 2082 to secure the housing rights of impoverished citizens.
