Nepal Stock Exchange Index Falls, Trading Volume Sees Significant Surge

Kathmandu. The benchmark index of the stock market (NEPSE) decreased by 17.53 points. The NEPSE index closed at 2714.05 points on Thursday, the last trading day of the week.

Although the market index declined, there was a notable increase in the trading volume today. A total turnover of NPR 14.56 billion was recorded from the buying and selling of 3 crore 54 lakh shares of 320 companies throughout the day.

Among the total companies traded today, the share prices of 170 companies decreased, while the prices of 85 companies increased. The share prices of 5 companies remained unchanged.

Despite the market drop, some hydropower companies showed encouraging growth in their share prices. The share price of Himalayan Dolkha Hydropower increased by 9.23 percent, while Shivashree Hydropower increased by 9.19 percent. Similarly, Kalika Power's price rose by 8.32 percent. Corporate Development Bank, Mithila Laghubitta, and Saptakoshi Development Bank hit the negative circuit.

Sector-wise, the Development Bank index decreased the most today by 2.23 percent, and the Manufacturing sector index decreased by 2.12 percent. Indices for Hydro, Investment, and Mutual Funds also declined.

In terms of turnover amount, Ngadi Group Power topped the list today, with transactions exceeding NPR 599.9 million. Following this, SY Panel ranked second with NPR 522.9 million, and Upper Myadi Hydropower ranked third with NPR 466.4 million in transactions.
