Rasuwa Treasury Office Urges Licensed Sale of Liquor, Tobacco

Rasuwa. The Office of the Treasury and Comptroller (Kolnika) Rasuwa has urged concerned businesspersons to sell and distribute liquor, tobacco, gutkha, and other excise goods only after obtaining permission as per the law.

As information has been received that liquor and tobacco products are being traded without permission, Kolnika has clarified that those acting against the law will be prosecuted under the Excise Act.

Upon receiving information that some businesspersons in commercial areas such as the district headquarters Dhunche, Syaphrubesi, Timure, Thambuchet, Betrawati, Jibjibe, and Parchyang are trading liquor and tobacco products without obtaining a license, Kolnika has prioritized public awareness and dissemination.

Chief Treasury Controller Bindhya Karki informed that public awareness programs are being conducted with the participation of representatives of the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry and concerned businesspersons.

According to Chief Treasury Controller Karki in the district, records show that so far only 74 individuals in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality, one in Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality, 24 in Kalika Rural Municipality, four in Naukunda Rural Municipality, and six in Uttargaya Rural Municipality have obtained permission for excise sales and distribution.

Kolnika has drawn the attention of the concerned parties to conduct their businesses only after obtaining a license as soon as possible, as a significant number of businesspersons in the district are still seen trading without permission. Chief Treasury Controller Karki informed that to obtain excise permission, one must have a Permanent Account Number (PAN) from the Internal Revenue Office, Galchi.

Kolnika in the district has stated that it has collected revenue of Rs 899,750 under the excise duty head from the month of Shrawan to the end of Chaitra in the current fiscal year.
