Nepali Congress Leader Stresses Increased Significance of Upcoming Federal Election

Surkhet. Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, the leader of the Nepali Congress Karnali Province Parliamentary Party and former Chief Minister, has stated that the relevance and importance of the upcoming House of Representatives election on Falgun 21 is even greater than in the past. In an appeal, Shahi emphasized that the current election should be viewed with special significance.

In his appeal, he also mentioned that the achievements gained from Nepal's 2072 Constitution are being eroded and that democracy is facing a crisis.

‘The importance of the election being held in such a situation is even greater than in the past,’ he said, adding, ‘This election must bring the eroded democracy and democratic system back on track.’

He further stated that the primary duty now is to institutionally develop the public achievements gained from nationality, democracy, socialism, and federalism and inclusivity derived from the constitution through the mandate of the election.

Furthermore, he expressed that fulfilling the public aspiration for development, good governance, peace, and stability is the foremost duty of all Nepalis. He also mentioned that the Congress has fielded candidates in all constituencies for the protection of development, good governance, peace promotion, stability, and democracy.
