Family Protests in Siraha After Body of 16-Year-Old Girl Goes Missing from Hospital Morgue

Siraha. Relatives of 16-year-old Nisha Baniya, daughter of Ramesh Baniya of Golbazar Municipality-3, Jamdaha, Siraha, began protests in Golbazar on Tuesday over the disappearance of her body from the hospital. The victim's relatives had previously blocked the road on Monday evening as well.

The agitated locals protested demanding action against the hospital chief and concerned authorities after the body, which was kept at Ramkumar Upamaprasad Provincial Hospital in Lahan for postmortem, went missing.

The teenager was found dead at her home on Magh 10. The Area Police Office, Golbazar, had completed the procedures with a natural incident report and sent the body for postmortem to the Lahan hospital. Her parents, who are in India for employment, found the body missing when they arrived at the hospital on Monday to claim it.

Local teacher Samar Bhandari stated that the disappearance of the body, which had not even undergone a postmortem, is a serious lapse on the part of the hospital administration and the police administration. He demanded the strictest action against the hospital chief and police responsible for such negligence.

On Monday, Ward Chairman of Golbazar Municipality-3, Dhanprasad Lama, had warned that they would take to the streets again if the body was not made available by 10 AM on Tuesday.
