Names of Deuba-led Committee Removed from Nepali Congress Official Website After New Leadership Takes Charge

Kathmandu. The names of the committee led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, elected during the 14th General Convention, have been removed from the official website of the Nepali Congress, NepaliCongress.org.np. Central office sources informed that the old committee's names were removed after the committee led by Gagan Thapa, elected as president in the special general convention, assumed office at the party's central office on Friday.

However, the names of Thapa's new committee have not yet been uploaded to the website. Employees at the central office stated that the work is underway as they need to upload photos, names, and social media links managed by the office bearers and members.

The office bearers, on the other hand, say they are mentally prepared to work fully only after the Supreme Court delivers its verdict. They stated that currently, they are only handling election-related work.

The special general convention, held from Poush 27 to 30 in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, was not accepted by the establishment faction led by Deuba, elected as president in the 14th General Convention, nor by the rival faction led by Dr. Shekhar Koirala.

Nevertheless, the Election Commission recognized the special general convention held under the leadership of Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma, who were elected as General Secretaries in the 14th General Convention. Against this decision, the old establishment faction has approached the Supreme Court.

Hearing the writ preliminarily, the bench of Justice Sunil Pokhrel has directed the Election Commission to present the reason for recognizing the election, either by appearing in person or through a representative, within 15 days.
