Nepal Defeats Zimbabwe by Six Wickets in ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier

Kathmandu. Nepal defeated Zimbabwe by six wickets in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. In the match held at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground on Saturday, Nepal chased down the target of 130 runs set by Zimbabwe in just 19.3 overs, losing only 4 wickets.

This is Nepal's first victory in Group B of the tournament. Nepal had lost their first match to Thailand by 8 wickets and their second match to the Netherlands by 2 runs. The Netherlands has already advanced to the Super Six from Group 'B'.

Pooja Mahato played a magnificent half-century innings for Nepal's victory. She scored 52 runs off just 50 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes during her innings.

She was well supported by captain Indu Verma, who scored 22 runs off 23 balls, hitting 2 fours and 1 six. Opener Bindu Rawal contributed 15 runs, and Sita Magar added 11 runs.

For Zimbabwe, Josephine Nkomo took 2 wickets, while Nomvelo Sibanda and Christabel Chontso each bagged 1 wicket.

Earlier, after losing the toss and opting to bat first, Zimbabwe scored 129 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Kelis Ndhlovu was the top scorer for the team, contributing 52 runs, which included 8 fours off 36 balls.

Similarly, opener Willomida Bija scored 34 runs off 35 balls, and wicketkeeper Modester Mupachikwa added 14 runs. For Nepal, Riya Sharma took 2 wickets, while Kabita Kunwar, Pooja Mahato, Sita Magar, and Rubina Chhetri each claimed 1 wicket.
