49 Candidates Withdraw Nominations for Upcoming By-Elections

Kathmandu. Forty-nine candidates have withdrawn their nominations for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for February 21 (Falgun 21). Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that 49 individuals withdrew their candidacies out of those who registered on Magh 6.

The Commission had set 1 PM on Friday as the deadline for withdrawing candidacies. Out of the total 3,487 candidates, including 68 political parties and independents, who filed nominations across all 165 constituencies on Magh 6, 49 have now withdrawn their candidacies.

According to the Commission, one candidacy belonging to Resham Chaudhary has been rejected. Most of those who withdrew stated that they did so voluntarily.
